2017 Member meeting

Our 2017 call out and member meeting is scheduled for May 4, 20177:00 PM at Municipal Gardens. Current plan is to be outside at the picnic tables at the steps down to the river.

All past and future members should attend to get information about the 2017 ski season.

Ski Times Aug 30, Sept 1, 5 & 7

We've found a good thing and are sticking to it! Your boat driver on Tuesdays will be Chris and on Thursdays will be Dave.

Ski sets start at 5:30p and run until dark. NOTE: With the weather being like it was all last week and over the weekend, we are watching river conditions to make sure we're staying safe while skiing. Please text or email the boat drivers so they know who to expect and also who to contact should we need to cancel skiing.

If you're going to be in town Labor Day weekend and are interested in participating in a for-fun ski tournament, email Chris chris.thoman@ey.com. It'd be strictly for bragging rights and an introduction to the USA Waterski Grassroots tournaments. There's no pressure to make pre and end gates. No worries about falling because you get to keep skiing. Every buoy you ski around earns you points; outer buoys are more points. C'mon, give it a try!

Ski Times Aug 9 & 11

Tuesday, Aug 9:  Chris 317-828-8663

Thursday, Aug 11:  Dave 317-414-5375

All times are from 5:30-dark. Please text the boat driver of the ski session so we can gauge how many folks are coming down to ski. If you're not a member of the Indy Skiers Google Group, please join so you'll be in the know! Click here to join the Google Group.

Skiing tomorrow

The river is calm my friends.  The dock and ramp were manhandled into place tonight so we are ready to hit the water tomorrow. Pack your gear and start stretching!

If you're available Wednesday, we'll be installing the course and hopefully skiing a few sets after it's in.

CANCELLED: Learn to Ski June 25

Mother Nature took away our fair skies and low tides!

We've been diligently tracking river height and current flow since yesterday and while both are dropping, unfortunately it doesn't look like river conditions will be safe enough for Learn to Ski tomorrow. Too strong of a current increases the difficulty of just about every in-the-water activity. We're all eager to get out and start making some turns but we can't risk accident or injury to a Learn to Ski participant because of water conditions.

We're eager to get on the water and will keep you posted about the next chance to ski!

Charity Mtn Bike Ride - Nov 7

The event is commonly referred to as a “Poker Run” – ride your mountain bike over the Town Run Park Trails and play poker while doing so.  Not a race, but the faster one rides the more times they’ll be able to stop at dealer stations and draw cards that might improve their poker hand.  Men, Women, Boys, and Girls classes with winners in each.  No lyin’, cheatin’, double dealin’, or real gamblin’!

Kids’ service organizations Jameson Camp and the E 10th United Methodist Child and Youth Center are the sole beneficiaries of this event, sponsored by Ruoff Home Mortgage and run by Golden Sunrise Sertoma service club.

Skiing for the remainder of the year

Ski on Tuesday/Thursday and Saturday or Sunday the rest of the season.  If darkness starts to get us we will shift to Friday after 3pm and Saturday or Sunday.

Due to the fact that daylight has been shortened, People need to be ready to ski when the boat returns to the dock we cannot waste time waiting for people to get ready if we are going to get all skiers on the water. Skiers coming out of the water will be expected to be an observer(1) for the next skier, unless the new skier has a desired observer ready to ride.  After all skiers have run we will take 2nd sets.  If no one is left on the dock ready to ski The boat/ driver will be heading directly to the ramp.

End of Season Ski Series

We will continue skiing on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout September.  Tues nights are for members only.  All are welcome on Thursdays.  Ski time starts at 5pm both nights.

Tues/Thurs Skiing

Come ski with us Tuesday 5 PM to sunset! Tuesday is for members - don't forget to bring your dues and USA Waterski membership credentials!

Club Updates!!! Please read!!

The day has finally arrived!! River conditions are favorable and we're skiing!

We need a little flexibility in today's schedule but we WILL be skiing on the river. We hope you'll come out and join the celebration in finally getting to ski. The buoy we had marking the north anchor for the ski course disappeared in all the flooding. We need that anchor to well, anchor the course. If we can locate or replace the anchor today, this afternoon we'll be installing the ski course. The boat will be on the water and work will start by 3p. Anchor or no anchor, we're skiing. Come out to Municipal Gardens (1831 Lafayette Rd) whenever your schedule allows. We'll be happy to see you!

Tuesday we're also planning to ski; gotta make up for lost time! Boat will be in the water and ready at 4:30p. Right now there is a small chance of rain. If water conditions keep us off the river, we're relocating to Ralston's DraftHouse at 635 Massachusetts Ave for socializing, food & drinks, darts or shuffleboard. We'd prefer to ski but hope you'll join us at Ralston's if skiing gets cancelled.

Next Thursday we'll kick off the regular Thursday Night Ability Series.

2015 Learn To Ski Day Canceled

To all concerned

It is with much regret that I am sending you this e-mail.

Due to the recent weather conditions around Indianapolis the water levels in the river, specific the Indy Skiers site are entirely too high to safely host our first scheduled Learn to Ski Day of 2015.
We are in the process of updating our Indy Skiers website and Facebook pages to reflect the cancellation.

I do know that the club calendar is full for the remainder of the year, but as a club we will look into the possibility of hosting a second LTS day later in the season.

Sincerely
Indy Skiers
